Just so we're on the same page, what I call a week is based off of my work week. In case you don't know, I'm a regional truck driver. For me, that means I go away from home for five days then come back for two or three days at before I go back on the road. So my weeks are not typical weeks because they're rotating days.
Now that you know what I mean by my first week of 2025 may be different from yours, my first week started off the year well. I have learnt a lot of things. I cant share everything I have learnt but I will share one that stood out the most for me.
Before I do that, If you read my last blog, I talked about how I start out the year with a desire to read through the bible but I have never been able to accomplish it. Well, this week reminded me of the reason why that is so. Every time I start out to read through the bible in a year, I find myself caught up in a scripture, topic or character that I want to study more. So I go off on a tangent and leave the reading plan. That's why I have never read through the bible in a year.
Just thought I would point that out. Now to what I learnt that I want to share with you,
In Genesis 18 when God was going to destroy Sodom, He said he had to first talk to his friend Abraham about it. He just couldn't hide it from him. Why? Because He had chosen Abraham to lead his household in the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.
One of the things we learn from this portion of scripture is how God treasures the way we men lead our families. When we connect this scripture to the story of Eli in 1 Samuel chapter 2 and 3 we see that God was not happy with how Eli brought up his son's.
Even though Eli's sons were grown men and you would expect God to hold them responsible for their actions, He did not. He blamed Eli their father. That spoke volumes to me because it showed me how important it is to God in how we bring up our children.
I encourage you my fellow fathers to go do a deeper study on these scriptures and see what the Holy Spirit shows you.
Until next time,
Stay Blessed!
